Behind the Scenes
Creating the change we want to see, Fio beat a personal target of having at least 50% of its team from a diverse background. 54% of the Island staff team (including partners) came from BAME backgrounds! This is a rarity in the arts where such a High percentage of senior management, the production team and cast members are from BAME backgrounds. So yeah, we’re pretty proud!
Massive congrats to our artistic director, abdul shayek, who was appointed as a member of the arts and creative economy group AT the british council!
not only this, he was also Associate Director for the theatre performance in the recent Channel 4 documentary, Superkids about young people in care, led by Lemn Sissay!
